[vlc] Play only a given interval of the video.

Hi,

I am doing some research and I need to manually check specific
portions of long video sequences. I already know exactly which frames
I need to watch in each video so I could automate a little bit the
process by writing a script that would play only those specific time
windows in each video.

Unfortunately I could not find how to specify in the command line the
exact portion of the video that I want to play.
Is there a way to do this using VLC at all?
