Hello,

VLC 1.0 and later requires Mac OS X 10.5. There are no variants  
suitable for earlier releases of Mac OS X.

Therefore, you'll either have to update your Mac OS installation or  
stay with VLC 0.9.10. Regrettably, our current update checker is  
unable to distinguish between different Mac OS releases, which is why  
you are notified about the update.
