A real dvd player can simply skip over the unreadable parts of a dvd. But when vlc encounters an error, it stops playing and resets the playback position. Then you must go through the menus again and try putting the playback position greater than the unreadable region. This is a pain for a bad dvd with multiple unreadable parts. Why can't it just skip the bad parts? -Mike
