[vlc] Moving the VLC application file

I have ended up with a 19 MB vlc-1.1.2-win32 file on my Desktop.

If I delete this application file - would the VLC player still work.

I think it would not since its an application file. Why was it not
automatically saved in the VLC folder under the Program Files (instead
of the Desktop).

Is there any way I can move it away from the Desktop folder to some
other folder on the main drive?

Please help. I like to keep my Desktop clutter free. Thx.
