[vlc] Problems with VLC that crashes

Hello
 
I am experiencing severe problems running newest version of VLC1.1.2
All attempts to run an audio cd with that player are not working, the
program doesn't start. Trying to open a CD within the already running player
will close the player. Attempts to reopen is displaying a crash note and a
report to the developers.
 
Furthermore I tried to admit a new topic in the forum asking for help but
the server doesn't let me do anything. I've already registered and confirmed
via e-mail but log on is not possible.
 
Could you please help?
