[vlc] rm stream in 1.1.2 unable to auth (possible problem with live555?)

I am unable to get a RTSP authentication for a .rm file in VLC 1.1.2. The
content of the .rm file is as follows:

rtsp://
128.249.159.41:554/AY1011/Fall-1/B1CC/010804201008.rm?cloakport=80,554,7070

128.249.159.41:7070/AY1011/Fall-1/B1CC/010804201008.rm?cloakport=80,554,7070

When it fails, the log gives this line:

live555 debug: DESCRIBE failed with 401: cannot handle DESCRIBE response:
RTSP/1.0 401 Unauthorized

The verbose log from startup to fail is at the bottom of this email.

I am able to play this .rm file in realplayer with no problem. j-b suggested
that I replace the .rm file with this.

user:passwd at 128.249.159.41:554/AY1011/Fall-1/B1CC/010804201008.rm?cloakport=80,554,7070

This gives the same error message in VLC, but plays in realplayer without
prompting me for a username and password, as expected. In IRC, j-b also
suggested putting the rtsp address into a CTRL+V, but that failed in the
same way as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. There is a thread for this problem:
