[vlc] first time I have been unable to open

Hello,

I love your software.  Thank you so much.

For the first time I have encountered a file which vlc was unable to open.  I purchased copies of Jack Hunter from Australia and one from Germany.  Neither one will open/play no matter what I do.  Someone suggested embedded dvd-rom encoding.  Do you have any suggestions on how I could play these discs?
