[vlc] vlc doesn't respond

Hi, After some random time, VLC stop playing music; the lecture, stop,
pause...buttons doesn't work anymore.
It looks like as if the program is frozen but I can still use some items
from the context menu in the task-bar like show/hide and open media
I started it with a folder as parameter

I have to send 2 kill messages
at the first, VLC just says "[0x81aac90] signals interface error: Caught
Terminated signal, exiting..."
and with the second, it exits saying "Terminated"

I use VLC 1.0.6 with Ubuntu (9.10 and now 10.04)
