[vlc] Converting

Hi,  i am running VLC 1.0.5 on Mac OS 10.6.3  

I can not find any documentation on how to convert.  The doc keeps referring to the media menu.  there is no media menu on VLC 1.0.5 for Mac

Please help.  I need to convert an AVI file to MOV
