[vlc] Zone Free play

Greetings -

After many years of using WinXP, I am trying to learn how to navigate Ubuntu
and the VLC player was recommended for CD and DVD discs with Linex.

However I am having problems with some DVDs. That was expected as I have
discs from various sources that are ntsc, pal as well as regions 1,2 and
4.
Not only that but most of my ntsc r1 commercial discs will not play. I
assume that is due to the various security codes that have been put on the
DVDs. I should add that my dvd-writer/cd-writer is set up for ntsc r1.

When I was using it with WinXP, I had to use a program that "stripped out"
the various region codes, as well as some security programs, in order to
play the discs. Do you have any recommendations regarding how I can play
these various region discs with the VLC player?
