[vlc] Buffering Problem

I am having problems every time I try to play a movie trailer.  The trailer
opens and then stalls there while stating that it is buffering.  While
buffering, the trailer only moves frame by frame, and the sound is not in
sync.  It never finishes buffering!!  Please help.  Thanks very much.
