[vlc] I can't get it to play anything!!!!

Hi,

I recently bought a Dell Inspiron N5030 and Installed VLC. It didn't work to
well (the picture would skip while watching a video file) and after a few
days it stoped working all together. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it
three times and there has been no improvement. Please help ASAP.
