[vlc] Bad audio performance with jack

Should jack increase vlc's CPU usage like this?  I have a 1080p/60fps
video that plays perfectly if I don't use jack, but if I use jack it's
choppy and there is no A/V sync.

Does vlc take advantage of my multi-core CPU?
