Hello Jean-Baptiste Kempf,

related to the volume control of VLC MediaPlayer according to the
versions 2.0.8 and 2.1.0/2.1.1,
I have testes it again, but in my opinion the 125% new are not
corresponding to the 200% before.
The relationship between the different versions is not the same.
I think version 2.0.8 is more powerful and more advanced than the new
settings in versions 2.1.0/2.1.1.

I am musician and I have a real good hearing for different nuances in
music in general.
In School I have made a graduation in hearing chords and scales.
Sometimes when I am hearing some music through VLC Media Player
and related to the changed settings, I think before in version 2.0.8 and
earlier,
there is more "sound" and more "pressure" in the quality of the heard
music on VLC Media Player.

I hope this description is something that belongs to a well described
help for your support.
I cannot describe it more technical.

The problem of the shadowing of some files I think belongs to the
quality of the source from these files.
With some other files of a better source I have made good results.

For your suppoer many thanks.

best regards
Peter Gahn
