What about having an ATM card in the VLANserver so that VLANserver would
be able to do the reverse ARP on its own ?

If the computer is alone we got a SNMP trap link-up.
Then we should ask for the switch the mac and vlan and then
   ask the VLANbridge to bridge.

BUT if the link was active when the computer boots (ie there's a hub)
I don't think there is a method to be informed, is there ?

The solution is to flush the database and poll all the switch regularly
but now, polling the switches takes up to 4 minutes. If we have to do
it every 30min, it makes 15% downtime ... (we can't send snmp request
  while polling the switches !).
