First I think it's amusing that you're all discussing 'parallising' the 
encoder. I know the spelling isn't quite right for the joke to be in place, 
but still. :)

Anyway, I know that pengvado has been working on a multislice patch which 
will allow for multithreading. I would be interested to hear his input on 
this.
