Subject: increasing slice for hd videos
User-Agent: Internet Messaging Program (IMP) 3.2.5
hi
i have been looking at the bitrate degredation coursed by increasing the
number of slices per frame. for small resolutions like qcif the increase in
bitrate can be up to 30% (see attached eps's), for hd resolutions thoughthe
increase is about 10x less. with this small increase observed by 4 slices
for a hd video i was going to investigate the bitrate penalties for a
higher number of slices, say 32.
i have looked through the code and as far as i can see there isnt a limit to
the number of slices i can set. i think i am probably blind since i think it
is locked down to max 4 but i can quite see where.
if someone can point me in the direction of the limit so i can alter it and
test the bitrate that would be handy
thanks
Tom
ps this is what the eps show
rush_hour-192-1088-br.eps : relative bitrate for 1-4 slices on a hd video
br-slice.eps : relative bitrate of the same video at three different
resolutions, all with 4 slices. each are relative to its own 1slice bitrate
