Hi,
I'm not convinced your numbers absolve the IO subsystem. What about stats on
iowait or disk throughput?
Each 720x576 YV12 frame is ~600kbytes, even reading 60fps could start
causing issues on a single SATA drive.
Try encoding your input video from a ramdisk.
