Dear Remi Denis-Courmont,
Sorry I cannot got your idea. The authentication I made is based on the  
RTSP  level, and  it is supported  by the original  live555 project.  I 
didnot test  the  http  interface of vlc (anyway the inteface just shows 
something like the "interface is broken..." giving the feeling that it 
is supported anymore). I wonder the user and password in the httpd 
modules is prepared for the interface or for the streaming. Even I 
cannot fingure out how to feed them to VLC. That is why I changed it 
totally. And  now the authentication  is for restricting  VOD streams 
(actually a running instance of VLC server) to a certain group of users 
only.
