This feature is currently missing, but should be easy to implement.

Try using the PLAYPAUSE tag (I think that's what it's called, can't check
right now)

This is not currently possible, I use irexec to launch vlc dvd; when I press
the video button on my remote. I'm not sure how to implement this in vlc,
untill we have some sort of OSD menus.
