That's strange, within the spec file there is a line stating
Obsoletes: videolan-client

Do you have headers for vlc 0.8 in /var/cache/yum/caad/headers/?
If not maybe running 'yum update' and probably 'yum clean' before update
might work. The yum.conf I use looks almost identical but that I mention
gpgcheck=1 everywhere but on [caad]. As I haven't signed the packages it
would give you another error if it checks for gpg signatures.
