Well, "VLC media player" is the program name. As a consequence, it shouldn't be translated IMHO. (They don't localize "Microsoft Windows" into Swedish, do they ?)

Having a description in different languages could be nice indeed. However, I'm really not sure this canb be done easily using gettext (although it is possible through other means).
