So that people with up-to-date systems can run bootstrap properly (especially 
the Debian-based buildbots)? So that packagers don't end up having to re-run 
autopoint to work-around the autotools fixes you refuse to apply? Sorry, but 
that is just plain obvious to anyone using autotools. If you could not figure 
this out by yourself, I wonder why you're messing with them.

If you cannot be bothered to keep your build system up to date, use source 
tarballs and leave us alone. If you don't care to maintain YOUR system, it's 
only logical that _you_ pay the consequences, not those doing maintaining 
their development environment _properly_.

Do I have to assume you cannot read the gettext and libtool changelog? If so, 
you're beyond my help, sorry.
