   You are right. It's worth mentioning that for a 16:9 movie the screen
width has to be 1024 to match the 576 lines, so 1024x768 is the best
resolution for watching DVDs. Beyond this value, the video card will
perform scaling which won't enhance the picture quality at all.

   Also, some other cards/drivers have this problem, such as the Savage
card found on IBM Thinkpads.
