Redhat 7.1 performance issue

Hi

anyone noticed a performance decrease of vlc on Redhat 7.1 ??

On 7.1, vlc eats continously between 80 and 100% of my CPU.
Whereas on previous versions (e.g Redhat 7.0 / SuSE 7.1) it ran 
always between 50-60% .

I'm referring to vlc 2.73 as well as to 2.62 (my preferred
version), doing SDL video output.

So what's up ? 
(I did not forget to enable DVD DMA access after installing 7.1
if you think that's it)
