device dvd

Hello,

My name is isao nagamori in Tokyo.
How do you do?

I have question about vlc. That may be basic question, but
could you help me ?

I tried to install vlc and libdvdcss from source file.

My environment is 

> uname -u

MDT 2001 ppc unknown

Yellow Dog LINUX on Power Macintosh G3.

I use KDE. And when I execute " vlc /dev/dvd", the GUI
appeared but 
couldn't play DVD.

The error message is

input  error: cannot stat() file '/dev/dvd' (No such file
or directory)
----

Yes, there is no /dev/dev* file.  So how can I make
/dev/dvd file with nkmod ?
Someone please help me?

And can I use vlc with KDE environment ?
