I don't have any doubt but this led to my previous point which was it was
strange to make a snapshot public when it's known that there are problems in
it. I'm sure the developpers involved in the project have a good view on the
status of the different components, but when you're an extern developper and
just want to take a look, I tend to believe you will download a snapshot and
be quite surprised to discover that the compilation is not working.
I will take the Darwin project as an example. I've never seen a public
snapshot or a public CVS branch which was not compiling. There can be some
bugs in the code (except for "hello world" I don't know a soft whivh doesn't
have some), but the projects are compiling. So I was really surprised (and I
must not have been the only one) that some of the snapshots are not able to
compile.

Sure. That's one of the reason why I see no real interest in releasing daily
snapshots.
I would think that if someone needs the most up-to-date branch, he's going
to use CVS.
If you're an extern developpers and just want to have a look at the project,
only the last stable snapshot is interesting.
But it's only my personal opinion. I may prove wrong.
