Selecting title skips to end

Hello -
I am seeing something very strange with 'vlc' when attempting to
select a title once a DVD has started playing.
'vlc' is built using "--with-dvdread=yes" ( 'cvs update' was done
before doing the build).
The movie starts playing with no trouble. There are 20 titles on
the disc and I select 'Title 2'. At that time the displayed title
number changes to 4 and vlc sits there with no movie playing for a
few seconds. Then the displayed title number changes to 6 and then
one of two things happens: either the 'movie trailer' (the last
title on the disc) starts playing or vlc coredumps.
Am I doing something wrong? Or is "Title selection" in a state of
change and I should simply retry tomorrow (or the next day ;)).
I've included the output of 'vlc -vvvvv' below (I hope 5 "v"s are
enough to be useful).
