   The problem was probably because the plugin search in VLC is case-
sensitive, and files on your CD-ROM are uppercase, while lowercase is
expected. This bug will be fixed in the 0.4.6 and 0.5.0 versions of
VLC. In the meantime, you can quickly hack your version of VLC by
editing the binary executable (with a hex editor), look for the three
characters ".so", and replace them with ".SO" (uppercase).
