Having a [vlc] tag in front of the subject doesn't disturb much the
viewing. I think you're a little excessive about the disturbance it
causes you ; besides, in 9 cases out of 10, people do not even put an
explicit topic in the subject line. And anyway, I know you'll read
all messages, whatever subject line they have.
So I wonder, why not help a few people who do not want to sort their
messages, and add tags ? Your attitude only upsets people. Personally
I don't care, but I think the [libdvdcss-devel] argument isn't one :
this mailing-list definitely has a naming problem, and most videolan
projects do not need a user and a devel mailing-list.
So instead of trolling other developers with their mailing habits,
you'd better think about why we have so many mailing-lists, and why
90 % of the posts are directed to the wrong mailing-list.
I second Bill on that matter.
