Hi
I have trouble playing an .avi file with divx5 / mp3 content with vlc
0.4.4 (MacOSX) -- when opening the file, it starts playing or, rather,
slideshowing (if you know what i mean) then vlc crashes, and
"input_max_allocation reached" is written to system.log. I have only
experienced this with this particular file. The avi is about 1.4 GB -
could that be the problem? It has rather high bitrate, is a 2-pass
encode using b-frames, 720 width: maybe the decoding is too hard on my
G3-powerbook? On the other hand, I was always able to view divx movies
even with an external monitor attached, and the playback was very smooth.
I have checked the archives and seen the older problem (03-2002) with
pausing and playing, which seems to have caused "input_max_allocation
reached" on vlc 0.1.1. Needless to say, i did not pause.
Any suggestions on what could have caused the problem? Or how I could
avoid it on the encode-side, like making a divx one-pass (CBR) encode or
leaving out b-frames or using lower bitrate or using smaller videosize?
Thanks,
js
