[vlc] how is http works with vlc

hello,
    I am sorry If I have written anything wrong before. Please forgive me. I am a student. I want to use vlc in my project. I am not getting how to use http in vlc. I know how to unicast and multicast.but do not know how to use http in vlc. I could not configure even /usr/local/etc/videolan/vls/input.cfg  .
Please reply me.
