[vlc] again: Half Screen only at high resolution

Hi,

I'm running vlc on a Dell Precision 650 with ATI FireGL E1
under Redhat 8.0.
When changing screen resolution from 1200x1024 to 1600x1200
I only have half screen (the left half of the movie).

Any help and hint kindly appreciated.
