This is a problem still consists in VLC and VLS using
V4L somehow we cann't record and convert from /dev/dsp
to mpga hope it will be fixed soon with the good work
of the maintainers and developers of VideoLan .

http://www.proav.de/video/tv-channels_europe.html

remember that for instance "S3" channel ranges between
118-125 bandwidth with video on 119.25 and audio
119.25 therefore if you are using V4L tv tuner u
specify as such :
vlc
v4l:/dev/video0:norm=pal:frequency=1908:size=720x576:adev=/dev/dsp:audio=mono
where 1908 is 119.25 * 16
where as if you are using PVR :
vlc
pvr:/dev/video0:norm=pal:frequency=119250:size=720x576
 
where 119250 is 119.25 * 1000
