[vlc] Sound out of sync

Hi--

I have the latest version of VLC and have an .avi (a fairly long one of over
an hour) and no matter what audio plugin I use, the sound is still out of
sync.

Is there any way for me to access the audio track and actually move it to be
in sync somehow, or to extract the audio and video and make then into a
different format so that QuickTime can read them and I can do the editing
there?
