[vlc] trouble playing VCD

I am attempting to play a VCD created using Toast.  This disk will play using a very old version of VLC 0.5.3 on Linux but when I try to play it using .7.2 on aMac or Windows system it does not play and I get the following messages:

Can anyone please tell me how I can play this disk or what the problem might be?
