Operating system?
If Windows, make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card,
and DirectX 9.0B.
Take a look at wiki.videolan.org. Under Articles is a step-by-step guide,
using Streaming Wizard.

Subject: [vlc] Settings
Dear Sir,
I would like to stream a video (divx) over my LAN. I tried to use the
streaming wizard of VLC media player, but I couldn't see the video.
I have 2 computers, the first one has a static IP address (192.168.0.1)and
the second has a dynamic IP. They are connected with a Gigabit cable.
I would like to know how to set up the transmission method.
I thank you for your attention,
Yours faithfully,
Davide Leonarduzzi.
