[vlc] A question on VLC

Hi folks,

FedoraCore 2
Mozilla 1.7.3

Just join this list.

I'm seaching for a software simple to setup/configure
which allows me to play .avi files directly on
Internet during browsing. Additonally if downloading
them to the PC for future playing they can be evoked
with a click. Is VLC the right software for me. If YES
please advise whether following package is the right
version;
vlc-binary.tar.gz
(www.videolan.org/vlc/download-fedora.html)
