[vlc] clear playlist remote control interface

is there any way to clear the playlist from within the remote control 
interface?  clearly there is not one documented inside the help.  i also 
tried some obious key words like del, delete, erase, and remove.  none work. 
  i am trying to figure out a way to clear the playlist without restarting 
vlc.
