[vlc] Playing Speed can be fastest at 8X ??

Hello, VideoLAN Team,

I like to know, whether the latest version of 1.0.5 VLC , can play at 8x speed ?? 

The 1.0.2 VLC running on Ubuntu, is not engouh for my recording Video, to play speed at 4x, is there any solution can change the Parameter value inside the config file.
