Perhaps you have another device on your system that looks to the system as if it is a keyboard or mouse (i.e. a HID device) and that device could be sending keypress events (even for modifier keys such as Shift and Control) or perhaps your wireless mouse receiver is picking up noise and telling the system that the mouse has moved slightly.
