[x264-devel] x264 3 second delay in encoding

Hi,
I am looking at using x264 for realtime streaming (video conferencing),
through gstreamer. One problem which i am facing is that there is a delay of
3 seconds in encoding. However, when I use a older version of x264 like say
0.55(way back, 2007 code :) ), no delay is seen.
1) Could someone please help me in understanding why there is such a huge
delay?
2) What options should I be using to get realtime video streaming, without
huge delay?
3) Are there any buffering that causes this delay?

Hardware:
CPU: quad core phenom
RAM: 2GB
Camera: Firewire, HD(720p / 1280×720) 30fps
