[x265] divide, encode, combine?

Hello. 

I was wondering if anyone could refer to a good source/discuss on whether or not source video can be divided into N parts, then have each part x265 encoded (2-pass, 6Mb/s output, highest quality), and then joined back together?  (And obviously have the end result be visually indistinct from the results of strict linear processing?)  The idea being to spread the workload out across N compute systems.
