[x265] x265-devel Digest, Vol 69, Issue 1

Sorry for the late reply.

The command line was :

ffmpeg -i input.mkv -c:v hevc -crf 28 -preset:v faster -an output.mkv

The reason for using 'faster' was to reduce the encode time. I have
seen a similar relationaship (--hevc-aq producing smaller encodes than
--no-hevc-aq) with both the 'medium' and 'fast' presets.

There seems to have been an improvement in the latest git as fast as
quality in --hevc-aq in concerned. Unfortunately, this is more of a
subjective thing, since SSIM does not really correlate perfectly with
perceived visual quality for me.

btw, in the links I supplied, both the git and release versions have
changed (to 3.0 for release), so you will have to use x265 2.8 from
elsewhere now.

thanks
